Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Using a transmission jack, support the rear axle cradle at the
differential.
- Scribe a reference mark on the vehicle body around the perimeter
of the rear axle cradle mount in order to ensure proper re-installation.
- Remove the bolts which
secure the rear axle cradle mount to the vehicle body.
- Slightly lower the rear axle cradle.
- Remove the protective shield from the rear axle cradle mount.
- Remove the bolts which
secure the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower control arm.
- Lower the rear cradle.
- Remove the bolts for the
stabilizer shaft mounting brackets.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft.
- Transfer the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to
Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
Installation Procedure
- Install the stabilizer
shaft.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
to the stabilizer shaft mounting brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting bracket bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Raise the rear axle cradle.
- Install the stabilizer
shaft link to the lower control arm.
- Install the bolts which secure the stabilizer shaft link to the
lower control arm.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the protective shields to the rear axle cradle mount.
- Raise the rear axle cradle into position.
- Install the bolts which
secure the rear axle cradle mount to the vehicle body.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
- Remove the transmission jack from the rear differential.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the rear toe to specifications. Refer to
Rear Toe Adjustment
in Wheel Alignment.
