Removal Procedure

Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Loosen the fuel filler cap
  4. Disconnect the purge line quick connect fittings on both sides of the service port. Refer to Servicing Quick Connect Fittings .
  5. Remove the fastener at the bracket.
  6. Remove the Service Port from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Mount the service port to the bracket.
  2. Install/tighten the fastener.
  3. Clean any contamination from the male line ends. Then, apply a few drops of clean engine oil.
  4. Connect the purge lines to both sides of the service port. Refer to Servicing Quick Connect Fittings .
  5. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
