Removal Procedure

Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Loosen the fuel filler cap.
  4. Disconnect engine compartment EVAP line quick connect fitting from EVAP service port. Refer to Servicing Quick Connect Fittings .
  5. Remove intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Removal and Installation.
  6. Disconnect the EVAP line from the ventilation housing.
  7. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid valve bracket bolt.
  8. Remove the EVAP purge line, the purge valve and the line to the ventilation housing together as a unit.
  9. Remove the EVAP purge line from EVAP purge valve.
  10. Remove the EVAP vacuum source line from EVAP purge valve.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove protective caps from the replacement lines.
  2. Clean any contamination from the male line ends and apply a few drops of clean engine oil.
  3. Connect the EVAP purge line and the vacuum source line to the EVAP purge solenoid valve. Refer to Servicing Quick Connect Fittings .
  4. Install the EVAP purge line, the purge valve and the line to the ventilation housing together as a unit.
  5. Install/tighten the EVAP purge solenoid valve bracket bolt.
  6. Connect the EVAP vacuum source line to the ventilation housing.
  7. Reinstall the Intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Removal and Installation.
  8. Reconnect the EVAP purge line quick connect fitting to the EVAP service port. Refer to Servicing Quick Connect Fittings .
  9. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
