Removal Procedure
Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur
if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel
fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have
a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
Important: Collect any escaping coolant from the throttle body hoses. Drain the
coolant to a sufficient level or collect coolant as necessary.
- Loosen the hose clamps at the throttle body inlets.
- Disconnect the air ducts from the throttle body.
- Loosen the hose clamp.
- Disconnect the air hose for the IAC valve.
- Remove the accelerator cable.
- Disconnect the Cruise control cable.
- Loosen the hose clamps
- Disconnect the coolant hose from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the TP sensor harness connector.
- Disconnect the Brake servo vacuum line.
- Remove the bolt cover caps from the intake plenum.
- Remove the fastening bolts for the intake plenum.
Important: Mask the intake ducts. Entry of foreign objects can cause severe engine
damage.
- Carefully pull the intake plenum upwards. Observe the seal rings between
the intake plenum and the intake bridge.
- Remove the throttle body to intake fastening bolts.
- Remove the throttle body from the intake plenum.
- Observe the seal rings for the throttle body and the seal rings
for the vent adaptor.
Installation Procedure
Important: Use new seal rings for throttle body and for engine vent adaptor.
- Install the throttle body to the intake plenum -- ensure correct
sealing.
- Place 6 new seals on the intake bridge. Ensure that the installation
positions are correct.
Important: The intake bridge has two guide pins for aligning the intake plenum.
- Install the intake plenum on the intake bridge. Ensure the correct sealing.
- Install/tighten the bolts for the intake plenum.
- Reinstall the bolt cover caps.
- Connect the Brake servo vacuum line.
- Connect the Cruise control cable (2) and the accelerator cable
(1).
- Ensure that the air ducts are properly positioned on the throttle
body inlets.
- Tighten the hose clamps.
- Connect the IAC valve air hose.
- Tighten the hose clamp.
- Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Check and add the coolant as necessary. A long life coolant must
meet GM Specification 6277-M.
