Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    2. Object Number: 785879 Size: SH
  2. Remove the shift control linkage adjustment nut.
  3. Disengage the shift control linkage rod from the shift control assembly.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Remove the shift control boot. Refer to Floor Shift Control Boot Replacement .
  6. Remove the center console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    7. Object Number: 796319 Size: SH
  7. Remove the electrical connector (1) from the shift control assembly.
  8. Disconnect the shift lock actuator electrical connector (2) at the shift control assembly.

    9. Object Number: 796320 Size: SH
  9. Remove the 4 nuts securing the shift control assembly to the tunnel reinforcement.
  10. Remove the shift control assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 796320 Size: SH
  1. Install the shift control assembly to the tunnel reinforcement.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the 4 nuts securing the shift control assembly to the tunnel reinforcement.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  3. Install the electrical connector (1) to the shift control assembly.
  4. Connect the shift lock actuator electrical connector (2) at the shift control assembly.
  5. Install the center console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  6. Install the shift control boot. Refer to Floor Shift Control Boot Replacement .
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    8. Object Number: 785879 Size: SH
  8. Connect the shift control linkage rod to the shift control assembly.
  9. Install the shift control linkage adjustment nut finger tight.
  10. Adjust the shift control linkage. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
