- Install the engine oil cooler inlet/outlet O-ring seals.
- Install the engine oil cooler.
- Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in) bead of GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover.
- Apply thread adhesive GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the engine oil cooler cover bolts.
- Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts and tighten using the tightening sequence.
- Install the engine oil cooler outlet nut.
- Install the engine oil cooler inlet nut.
- Install the engine oil cooler pipes to the engine.
- Install the engine oil cooler pipe fittings to the engine block.
- Install the engine oil cooler pipe seals to the engine oil cooler.
- Install the engine oil cooler pipe fittings to the oil cooler.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolts in sequence to 20 N·m
(15 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts to 30 N·m
(22 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil cooler pipe fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil cooler pipe fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
