Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement LS2
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory
.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt from the generator.
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe (1) from the power steering pump (2).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt (1) at the cradle.
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe from the power steering gear. Discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: Loosely install the pressure line and retainers before tightening.
- Position the power steering gear inlet pipe to the vehicle.
- Loosely install the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt (1) to the cradle.
Important: Install a new O-ring seal on the power steering gear inlet pipe before installing it to the power steering gear.
- Loosely connect the power steering gear inlet pipe to the power steering gear.
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: When installing the power steering gear inlet pipe into the power steering pump a distinct click should be heard when the pipe is fully seated.
- Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe (1) to the power steering pump (2).
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe fitting at the pump to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt to the generator.
Tighten
• | Tighten the power steering gear inlet routing bolt at the generator to 9 N·m (80 lb in). |
• | Tighten the power steering gear inlet routing bolt at the cradle to 9 N·m (80 lb in). |
• | Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe to gear fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft). |
- Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
.
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory
.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Install the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement
.
Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement LP1, LY7
Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
- Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the A/C compressor bracket.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the engine cradle.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the power steering gear.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering gear (2). Discard the O-ring seal (3).
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering pump (2).
- Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the power steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering gear routing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the engine cradle.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to engine cradle routing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the A/C compressor bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to A/C compressor bracket routing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
Important: Install a new O-ring seal (3) on the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose prior to installation.
- Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering gear (2).
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering pump (2).
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering pump fitting to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding.
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Install the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement.
- Install both front wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
