Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement LP1, LY7

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1789731  Size: SH
  5. Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering reservoir inlet pipe/hose (2) from the power steering cooler pipe.

  6. Object Number: 1789748  Size: SH
  7. Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (2) from the power steering cooler pipe.

  8. Object Number: 1789780  Size: SH
  9. Remove the lower power steering cooler pipe mountig bolt (1).

  10. Object Number: 1789796  Size: SH
  11. Remove the upper power steering cooler pipe mounting bolt (1) and remove the power steering cooler pipe (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1789796  Size: SH
  1. Position the power steering cooler (2) to the vehicle and install the upper mountign bolt (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 5.4N·m (48 lb in).

  3. Install the lower power steering cooler pipe mountig bolt (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).

  5. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (2) to the power steering cooler pipe.

  6. Object Number: 1789731  Size: SH
  7. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering reservoir inlet pipe/hose (2) to the power steering cooler pipe.
  8. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement .
  9. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  10. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  11. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
