Models:2006 Cadillac CTS with 2.8L (LP1) HFV6 & Automatic Transmission

Attention: An involved VIN listing is contained in the Administrative Message (U.S.) or Dealer Communication (Canada). If any of these vehicles are still in your inventory, perform this repair as soon as possible, but no later than April 30, 2006, at which time this bulletin will expire.


**** This Inventory Upgrade is in effect until April 30, 2006. ****

Condition

The transmission oil cooler line may have an improperly oriented protective sleeve intended to prevent contact between the line and a stiffening rib on the engine oil pan. The slit in the sleeve may be aligned with the pan such that contact could still occur.

Correction

Dealers are to re-orient the transmission oil cooler line protective sleeve.

Service Procedure

Perform this service procedure on vehicles in dealer inventory that are listed on the attached VIN list and in the GM Vehicle Inquiry System (GMVIS).

Transmission Oil Cooler Line Sleeve Inspection

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to "Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle," SI document 813128.

  2. Object Number: 1771739  Size: SH
    (1)Transmission Oil Cooler Line Sleeve
    (2)Location where to gently apply pressure

    Caution: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system or vehicle components near the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

  3. Locate the transmission oil cooler line sleeve.
  4. 2.1. Orient the slit on the transmission oil cooler line sleeve to point down. The slit on the sleeve may already be oriented down. If the sleeve is oriented down, proceed to step 3.

            Notice: Use the minimum force required to move the transmission oil cooler line away from the engine in order to avoid damaging the transmission oil cooler line.

    2.2. If required, gently apply outward pressure to the transmission oil cooler line to position the line away from the engine. (1) Transmission oil cooler line sleeve location; (2) Location where to gently apply pressure.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
