Condenser Tube Replacement 2.8L (LP1), 3.6L (LY7)

Tools Required

    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
    • J 45689 A/C Quick Connect Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.

  4. Object Number: 756177  Size: SH
  5. Remove the lower condenser line bolt (1).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.8L.

  8. Object Number: 817526  Size: SH
  9. Remove the condenser tube quick connect fitting, using the J 45689 .

  10. Object Number: 789019  Size: SH
  11. Remove the condenser tube clamp bolt (1).
  12. Remove the condenser tube.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 817518  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-rings to the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the condenser tube to the liquid line.

  3. Object Number: 789019  Size: SH
  4. Install the condenser tube quick connect fitting (2).
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the condenser tube clamp bolt (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.8L.
  9. Raise the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 756177  Size: SH
  11. Install a new O-ring to the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  12. Connect the lower condenser line to the condenser.
  13. Install the lower condenser line bolt (1).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  15. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .

Condenser Tube Replacement LS2

Tools Required

    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
    • J 45689 A/C Quick Connect Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 756177  Size: SH
  5. Remove the lower condenser line bolt (1).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 817526  Size: SH
  9. Remove the condenser tube quick connect fitting, using the J 45689 (1).

  10. Object Number: 789019  Size: SH
  11. Remove the condenser tube clamp bolt (1).
  12. Remove the condenser tube.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 817518  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-rings to the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the condenser tube to the liquid line.

  3. Object Number: 789019  Size: SH
  4. Install the condenser tube quick connect fitting (2).
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the condenser tube clamp bolt (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  9. Raise the vehicle.

  11. Install a new O-ring to the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  12. Connect the lower condenser line to the condenser.
  13. Install the lower condenser line bolt (1).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  17. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
  18. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
