Power Steering Return Hose Replacement LS2

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 1400682  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering gear.

  5. Object Number: 1391088  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering cooler.
  7. Remove the power steering return hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering return hose.

  2. Object Number: 1391088  Size: SH
  3. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1400682  Size: SH

    Important: Install a new seal on the power steering return hose.

  5. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the hose to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  8. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Return Hose Replacement LP1, LY7

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1791360  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the left front wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  4. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  5. Disconnect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering gear (2). Discard the O-ring seal (3).
  6. Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (2) from the power steering cooler pipe and remove the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1791360  Size: SH
  1. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (2) to the power steering cooler pipe.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1791434  Size: SH

    Important: Install a new O-ring seal (3) on the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose prior to installation.

  3. Connect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering gear (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  6. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  7. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
