Power Steering Return Hose Replacement LS2
Removal Procedure
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
- Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering gear.
- Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering cooler.
- Remove the power steering return hose.
Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering return hose.
- Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Install a new seal on the power steering return hose.
- Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the hose to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding.
Power Steering Return Hose Replacement LP1, LY7
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the left front wheel and tire assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Disconnect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering gear (2). Discard the O-ring seal (3).
- Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (2) from the power steering cooler pipe and remove the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (2) to the power steering cooler pipe.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Install a new O-ring seal (3) on the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose prior to installation.
- Connect the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering gear (2).
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear outlet pipe/hose fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding.
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Install the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement.
- Lower the vehicle.
