Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LS2

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1400678  Size: SH
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  4. Remove the power steering pressure hose line bolt from the generator.
  5. Disconnect the power steering pressure line from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 1400682  Size: SH
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  8. Disconnect the power steering pressure line from the power steering gear.

  9. Object Number: 1400686  Size: SH
  10. Remove the power steering pressure line to cradle bolt.
  11. Remove the power steering pressure line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1400686  Size: SH

    Important: Loosely install the pressure line and retainers before tightening.

  1. Install the power steering pressure line.
  2. Loosely install the power steering pressure line to cradle bolt.

  3. Object Number: 1400684  Size: SH

    Important: Install a new seal on the power steering pressure line before installing to the power steering gear.

  4. Loosely connect the power steering pressure line to the power steering gear.

  5. Object Number: 1400676  Size: SH
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: When installing the power steering pressure line into the power steering pump a distinct click should be heard when the line is fully seated.

  8. Connect the power steering pressure line to the power steering pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  10. Install the power steering pressure line bolt to the generator.
  11. Tighten

        • Tighten the pressure line to generator bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
        • Tighten the pressure line to cradle bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
        • Tighten the pressure line to gear fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  13. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  15. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LP1, LY7

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  4. Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  5. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  6. Object Number: 1791485  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the A/C compressor bracket.

  8. Object Number: 1791496  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the engine cradle.

  10. Object Number: 1791703  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the power steering gear.
  12. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

  13. Object Number: 1791774  Size: SH
  14. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering gear (2). Discard the O-ring seal (3).

  15. Object Number: 1791741  Size: SH
  16. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering pump (2).
  17. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1791703  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the power steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering gear routing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the engine cradle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to engine cradle routing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the A/C compressor bracket.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to A/C compressor bracket routing bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).


    Object Number: 1791774  Size: SH

    Important: Install a new O-ring seal (3) on the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose prior to installation.

  9. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering gear (2).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  11. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering pump (2).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering pump fitting to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  13. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  14. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  15. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  16. Install both front wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
  19. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 2.8L (LP1) engine or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 3.6L (LY7) engine.
