Engine Oil Pressure Light Illuminated, Engine Oil Pressure Low on Display ((Replace Engine Oil Pressure Sensor (Switch) Connector)

Some customers may comment that the engine oil pressure light is illuminated and the engine oil pressure display is reading low.

The cause of this condition may be caused by water intrusion into the oil pressure sensor (switch) connector resulting in corrosion on the terminals. This may be due to a missing weatherpack seal that may have fallen off during assembly or service because the positive locking retainer (PLR) was not installed.

Inspect the engine oil pressure sensor (switch) wiring harness connector for signs of corrosion. If the terminals show signs of corrosion, then replace the connector with service pigtail, P/N 88988301. Use the procedure listed below:

1. Remove the cross car brace bolts and the cross car brace.
2. Lift the engine cover to unsnap and carefully remove the engine cover.
3. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor (switch) electrical connector.
4. Inspect the connector terminals for signs of corrosion; if corrosion is present, cut off the connector approximately 25 mm (1 in) back.
5. Install the new service connector pigtail using the sealed splice instructions provided with the pigtail.
6. Connect the oil pressure sensor (switch) electrical connector.
7. Install the engine cover.
8. Install the cross car brace and bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 112N·m(83 lb ft).
