Service VME - Cold Power Steering System Squeal , Squawk Noise on Startup - kw 3.6 5.7 fluid LS6 LY7 power pump start

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

This message applies only to regions were outside temperatures could reach 12 degrees F or below. In this environment, the 2004 CTS with the 3.6 LY7 HFV6 and the CTS-V with the 5.7 LS6 could experience a squeal/squawk noise from the power steering pump momentarily on start up after an extreme cold soak. A cold climate power steering fluid has been approved for use in these vehicles and should perform much better in areas that regularly experience extreme cold weather. This fluid is available under GM part number 12345867 and is in quart quantities.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
