Service VME - Returnless Fuel System - kw 3.2 3.6 driveability information LA3 LY7 performance pressure pump regulator

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

The CTS uses two different design fuel systems between the 3.6 High Feature V6 LY7 and the 3.2 LA3. The 2004 CTS with the 3.6 High Feature V6 LY7 uses a returnless fuel system with a pressure regulator in the fuel pump module assembly. The 2003 and 2004 CTS with the 3.2 LA3 engine use a conventional return system with the pressure regulator on the engine fuel rail and no regulator at the pump. During a recent warranty part review of CTS new Powertrain components, 2 cases were discovered where the incorrect fuel pump was used in a repair causing a subsequent performance concern and an additional repair visit. When servicing the fuel pump on a 2004 CTS, pay close attention to the parts information and compare the appearances of the replacement verses the original pump to make sure it is the correct application. The current part number for the 2004 HFV6 fuel pump is 25764417.
