SUMMARY OF CERTAIN ALLANTE REPAIRS AND INFORMATION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987-1988 ALLANTE

During the 1987 and 1988 model years, Cadillac has developed many Serviceman Bulletins related to continuing product improvements and repairs for the Allante. These bulletins have been distributed and indexed regularly throughout the two model years. The purpose of this bulletin is to highlight some of the more common body-related service procedures into a single listing for dealer service reference and provide a suggested order for completion on vehicles requiring these repairs.

Body Sealing:

1. Allante Wind Noise and Water Leaks (Serviceman Bulletin 88-2-123 dated JAN. 25/88) is an updated version of the information presented in the) Allante training video tape and describes basic body and seal system alignment procedures including the addition of a filler at the top of the C.V. channel.

2. Allante Wind Noise and Water Leak, Supplement (Serviceman bulletin 88-2-133 dated FEB. 8/88) addresses sealing concerns the roof to A- Pillar to C.V. window area through the addition of soft foam patches to the C.V. cap and top weatherstrips, along with a procedure to reinforce the roof header weatherstrip over the A-Pillar.

3. Wind Noise/Water Leak at the B-Pillar with Hard Top Installed (Serviceman Bulletin 87-2-204 dated JAN. 18/88) describes the addition of a pad to the hard top B-Pillar weatherstrip to improve sealing.

4. Door Lock Caps Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin 88-2-121 dated JAN. 18/88) describes the addition of triangular shaped caps to door lock access holes to deflect water outboard.

5. Seal Side Door Lock Pillar Upper (Mucket) Replacement Bulletin 87-2-213 dated SEPT. 28/87) provides replacement procedure and revised part numbers for B-Pillar door muckets for increased sealing.

6. Top Quarter Window Weatherstrip Assembly Replacement Serviceman Bulletin 87-2-245 dated JAN. 18/88) provides service information for revised soft top quarter window weatherstrips with thicker cross section and "blow out" clips to increase sealing at the rear of the door glass.

7. Back Light Rear Defogger Connector Difficult to Disconnect from Hard Top (Serviceman Bulletin 87-8-172 dated JAN. 18/88), details the procedure to reduce connector engagement efforts.

8. Soft/Hard Top Pull Down Motor Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin 87-2-246 dated JAN. 25/88) provides replacement procedure and part requirements to replace 1987 pull down units with the 1988 version.

9. Soft Top Cable Replacement (Serviceman Bulletin 87-2-249 dated JAN. 25/88) details the inspection and replacement procedure for worn or frayed soft top cables.

10. Fuel Filler Door Doesn't Open Properly (Serviceman Bulletin 87-2-219 dated NOV. 25/88) provides replacement procedure and part numbers to address fuel door opening operation.
