WIND NOISE OR AIR RUSH AT THE 'A' PILLAR (REPAIR DESCRIBED)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987 ALLANTE

Some 1987 Allantes may exhibit a condition of wind noise and/or air rush at the upper outboard corners of the "A" pillar with the hardtop installed. This condition may be caused by a clearance between the windshield header upper weatherstrip and the windshield.

To repair this condition, install half-round 3/8" closed cell foam between the windshield header and the windshield header upper front weatherstrip. Install full length of weatherstrip. Use the following procedures:

1. Remove hardtop and place on a protected surface.

2. Install 3/8" D-shaped or 1/4 round, closed cell foam underneath header upper front weatherstrip (Figure 1) , full length of windshield header.

Use Dominion Sure Seal close tolerance rubber shim:

RRH 3/8" x 50 ft. half round RRR 1/4 1/4" x 50 ft. round

3. Replace hardtop.

Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.4 hours.
