ALLANTE GOLD KEY DELIVERY SYSTEM

The strategic importance of Cadillac's premiere ultra-luxury roadster, the 1987 Allante , warrants changes to the Gold Key Delivery System. Therefore, it is vital that key dealership personnel who are responsible for fulfilling the Allante Gold Key Delivery System are fully informed of, and precisely follow, all changes outlined in this bulletin.

In addition to two sets of 23K gold keys, a special Allante key fob, audio cassette tape, and an exclusively designed, color coordinated owner's portfolio, several other new features are unique to Allante . Exclusive for Allante are three Gold Key Inspections, each of which include a one hour vehicle inspection, oil and filter change and chassis lubrication along with an Electronic Systems Profile (ESP) inspection at no additional charge to the owner. The specially designed Allante' New Vehicle and Pre-Delivery inspection procedure check sheet guides the evaluating, testing, and checking of all component operation of the Allante.

The Electronic Systems Profile (ESP) utilizes the on-board computer system to capture an operational profile of the car's electronics. Four ESP inspections will be conducted; one during the New Vehicle inspection, and one during each of the three Allanti Gold Key Inspections. The Allante Electronic Systems Profile (ESP) Instruction Manual and a copy of the ESP checklist (Attachment A) are enclosed. The checklist is used to record ECM and BCM operational data. The instruction manual was developed to provide service technicians with detailed instructions on how to properly access the Driver Information Center diagnostics to perform ESP inspections.

The ESP checklist for the first inspection is attached to the NVI/PDI form included in the Allante Gold Key package. The ESP checklists for the three ESP's performed during Gold Key Inspections are stored behind the Vehicle and Owner Information card in the cover of the Allante Gold Key Portfolio. Each ESP inspection should be conducted simultaneously with the Allante' Gold Key Inspection, and scheduled at reasonable intervals within the first 12,000 miles or 12 months.

Three Gold Key inspection coupons (Attachment B) are located at the back of the "Welcome to the World of Cadillac" section of the Owner's Manual. Each coupon must be properly completed, reviewed and signed by the owner, and attached to the repair order. In addition, each ESP checklist must be completed, signed by the technician and the customer. The white copy of the three part ESP checklist is to be provided to the customer, the yellow copy retained in the history file and the hard copy returned to Gold Key Headquarters. The hard copy of the ESP checklist is a postage paid, self addressed mailer.

A warranty claim for two hours of labor under operation Z7500 should be submitted for each Allante Gold Key Inspection performed. Failure code for this operation is 99. The customer must sign each repair order, Gold Key Inspection coupon and ESP checklist. The bulk material cost for the chassis lubrication, oil, and oil filter should be submitted as a net amount on the warranty claim.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
