Some 1987 Allantes built prior to VIN breakpoint 101845 may exhibit a condition of excessive cold air bleed to the heater outlets in the A/C mode with the up-down switch in the normal position. Some air bleed is normal, but an excess amount of bleed air can be caused by insufficient travel of the electric up-down motor. Insufficient motor travel may not allow the up-down valve (door) to seal. To repair this condition, use the following procedure:
1. Remove driver side closeout panel.
2. Remove driver side hush panel.
3. Remove the electrical connector from the motor and snap the link out of the motor lever.
4. Remove the three screws and replace the electric motor with P/N 16044886.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
