Power Steering Hoses Replacement Buick
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front splash
shield.
- Remove the wheel splash shield.
- Remove the following components:
- Remove the alternator frame brace bolts.
- Remove the alternator frame brace.
- Disconnect the connections at the following locations:
- Disconnect the hoses (1,2).
Installation Procedure
- Connect the hoses (1,2)
into place.
- Connect the connections at the following locations:
- Install the alternator frame brace.
- Install the alternator frame brace bolts.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the following
components:
Tighten
• | Tighten the retainer bolts (4) to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
|
• | Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump, to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
|
• | Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear,
to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
|
- Install the wheel splash shield.
- Install the front splash shield.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the system and bleed the system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
Power Steering Hoses Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Remove the bolt (6)
that secures the clamp of the inlet hose (1) to the alternator bracket.
- Disconnect the connector (4) to power steering pressure
sensor switch (5).
- Remove the 2 nuts (3) that secure the clamps of
the outlet hose (2) to the alternator mounting.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front splash

- Remove the alternator frame brace.
- Disconnect the connections at the following locations:
- Disconnect the hoses (1,2).

sensor switch (5).
- Install the 2 nuts (3) that secure the clamps of
the outlet hose (2) to the alternator mounting.
- Fill the system.
- Bleed the system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
