Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear compartment sill plate/rear trim. Refer to
Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Remove the license plate from the vehicle.
- For Oldsmobiles, remove the license plate pocket from the vehicle.
- Remove the nut that retains
the latch striker (1) to the inside rear compartment.
Remove the bolt (3).
- Remove the nuts (2) that retain the latch striker (1)
to the outside rear compartment.
- Remove the rear compartment latch striker (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear compartment
latch striker (1).
- Install the nuts (2) and the bolt (3) in order to
retain the latch striker (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Adjust the rear
compartment latch striker (1) as needed.
Tighten
• | Tighten the nuts (2) to 12 N·m (106 lb in). |
• | Tighten the bolt (1) to 12 N·m (106 lb in). |
- For Oldsmobile, install the license plate pocket to the vehicle.
- Install the license plate to the vehicle.
- Install the rear compartment sill plate/rear trim. Refer to
Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement
