Press the Rear Compartment Lid Release open button on the Keyless Entry Transmitter.

Does the rear lid open?

  1. Remove the Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay from the LH Rear Fuse Block.
  2. Connect a test light between the LH Rear Fuse Block terminals B1 and ground.
  3. Connect a test light between the LH Rear Fuse Block terminal B3 and ground

Does the test lamp light for both terminals?

Connect a fused jumper between the LH Rear Fuse Block terminals B3 and A1.

Does the rear compartment lid open?

Inspect the trunk release fuse.

Is the fuse OK?

  1. Place the Valet Switch into the ON position.
  2. Disconnect the Park Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the PNP switch connector C1 terminal A.

Did the rear compartment lid open?

  1. Disconnect the Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the rear compartment lid release switch terminal A (BLK) and ground.

Does the rear compartment lid open?

  1. Disconnect the Valet Switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the Valet Switch terminal C (LT/BLU) and ground.

  1. Repair the short to ground in CKT 1140 (ORN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Replace the trunk release fuse.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Test CKT 1344 (LT BLU) for an open between the LH Rear Fuse Block and S351.
  2. If OK, Replace the rear compartment lid release relay.

  1. Test CKT 56 (BLK/WHT) for an open.
  2. Test CKT 1050 (BLK) for an open between CKT 56 (BLK/WHT) terminal A and ground.
  3. If OK, replace the rear compartment lid release actuator.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Test CKT 451 for an open between PNP switch and S297.
  2. Inspect the PNP switch connector.
  3. If contact is OK, replace the PNP switch. Refer to PNP Switch Replacement or Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

  1. Test CKT 434 (ORN/BLK) for an open between PNP switch and rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Inspect terminal connectors.
  3. If OK, replace the PNP switch. Refer to PNP Switch Replacement or Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Test for an open in CKT 1576 (BLK).
  2. Inspect the valet switch connector for proper terminal contact.
  3. If the contact is OK, Replace the valet switch.

Repair the open in CKT 1344 (LT BLU) between the valet switch and S351.

  3. Connect a test lamp between valet switch connector terminal 8 (BLK) and ground.

  2. Place the valet switch in the ON position.
  3. Disconnect the Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator connector.
  4. Connect a test lamp between Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator connector terminal A (BLK/WHT) and ground.
  5. Press and hold the Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Test CKT 1050 (BLK) for and open.
  2. Inspect the Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator connector for proper terminal contact.
  3. If the contact is OK, replace the Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator.
