Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the 2 screws from the shoulder belt guide.
  2. Remove the shoulder belt guide from the seat.

  3. Object Number: 160518  Size: SH
  4. Remove the screw and the escutcheon from the rear quarter panel trim.
  5. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  6. Remove the lap belt nuts and rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  7. Remove the quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  9. Disconnect the electrical connector at the shoulder retractor.

  10. Object Number: 160518  Size: SH
  11. Remove the retractor anchor bolt.
  12. Remove the bolt and the intermediate guide.
  13. Remove the top anchor bolt and the guide loop.
  14. Remove the lap retractor trim cover and the screw.
  15. Remove the lap retractor anchor bolt.
  16. Remove the retractor and belt assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 160518  Size: SH
  1. Install the lap retractor and the anchor bolt.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the lap retractor anchor bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the lap retractor trim cover and the screw.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the trim cover screw to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  5. Install the guide loop and the anchor bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the guide loop anchor bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  7. Install the intermediate guide and the bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate guide bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  9. Install the retractor and the anchor bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the retractor anchor bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  11. Connect the electrical connector at the shoulder retractor.

  13. Install the quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  14. Install the lap belt nuts and the rear seat back.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the lap belt nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  16. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  17. Install the escutcheon onto the rear quarter panel and the screw.
  18. Install the shoulder belt guide to the seat.
  19. Install the 2 shoulder belt guide screws.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 shoulder belt guide screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the lower garnish molding. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 185437  Size: SH
  3. Remove the top anchor bolt and guide loop.

  4. Object Number: 185435  Size: SH
  5. Remove the upper garnish molding. Refer to Upper Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.

  6. Object Number: 185439  Size: SH
  7. Remove the intermediate guide and screw.

  8. Object Number: 185445  Size: SH
  9. Remove the lower anchor bolt and dual retractor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 185445  Size: SH
  1. Install the dual retractor and lower anchor bolt.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.     Tighten
    Tighten the anchor bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the intermediate guide and screw.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (17 lb in).

  5. Install the upper garnish molding. Refer to Upper Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.

  6. Object Number: 185437  Size: SH
  7. Install the guide loop and the anchor bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the anchor bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  9. Install the lower garnish molding. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
