Carpet Retainer Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289186  Size: SH
  1. Remove the insert (1).
  2. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to pry up the insert.

  3. Remove the fasteners (2) from the carpet retainer (4).
  4. Pull upward in order to remove the carpet retainer (4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289186  Size: SH
  1. Install the carpet retainer (4).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fasteners (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the carpet retainer fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the inserts (1).
  6. Apply light downward pressure in order to secure the inserts into place.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the lower center garnish molding. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 289187  Size: SH
  4. Remove the insert (1).
  5. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to pry upward the inserts.

  6. Remove the fasteners (3) retaining the carpet retainers (2).
  7. Remove the carpet retainers (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the carpet retainers (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   4. Tighten
    Tighten the carpet retainer fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the inserts (1).
  6. Apply light downward pressure in order to secure the inserts to the carpet retainers (2).

  7. Install the lower center garnish moldings. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  8. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
