All of the door hardware production attaching screws contain an epoxy thread-locking compound. The epoxy thread-locking compound ensures that the minimum original torque setting is maintained. The service attaching screws may not contain a thread-locking compound. Treat the threads of the fasteners using Loctite® 272 GM P/N 12345493 or the equivalent, for the following reasons:
• | In order to prevent loosening of the service screws. |
• | In order to renew the thread-locking characteristics of the production screws. |
The Loctite® 272 GM P/N 12345493 or the equivalent applies to the hardware attachment as a liquid.
Upon installation and tightening, the adhesive cures in order to bond the attachment and to prevent loosening. The adhesive bond does not prevent future removal or attachment if required. You may use Loctite® 272 or the equivalent on any threaded fastener.
