  1. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) between the power mirror switch connector terminal A and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 3

Connect the DMM between the power mirror switch connector terminal A and terminal J.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or the short to ground in CKT 40 (ORN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to backprobe between one of the following components and ground:

    • The power mirror switch terminal 8 (ORN) (Oldsmobile)
    • The power mirror switch connector terminal A (ORN) (Buick)

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 3

Use the DMM in order to backprobe between one of the following components:

    • The power mirror switch terminals 8 (ORN) and 9 (BLK) (Oldsmobile)
    • The power mirror switch connector terminals A (ORN) and J (BLK) (Buick)

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 4

Disconnect the memory seat/mirror module connector C2. Use the DMM in order to measure the voltage between the memory seat/mirror module connector C2 terminal A and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or the short to ground in CKT 1340 (ORN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the memory seat/mirror module connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Use the DMM in order to measure the voltage between the memory seat/mirror module connector C1 terminal C12 and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or the short to ground in CKT 39 (PNK). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Use the DMM in order to mewasure the voltage between the memory seat/mirror module connector C2 terminal B and B+.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

  1. Set the mirror select switch to the left outside power mirror.
  2. Use the DMM in order to backprobe the following circuits:
  3. • The power mirror switch terminal 7 (YEL) and ground (Oldsmobile)
    • The power mirror switch terminal 5 (YEL) and ground (Buick)
  4. Move the power mirror switch to the mirror up position.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V
