Makes 🢒 Buick 🢒 1998 🢒 Riviera 🢒 Body and Accessories 🢒 Body Front End 🢒 Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.

    2. Object Number: 283540 Size: SH
  2. Release the cable (2) from the latch assembly (1).
  3. Remove the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the cable (2) from the clips.

    5. Object Number: 283541 Size: MH

    Important: Tie a string around the cable (3) before removing the cable (3) from the vehicle for the following reasons:

       • In order to ensure proper routing
       • In order to ease the installation of the release cable (3)

  5. Route the cable (3) along the body rail toward the rear of the vehicle.
  6. Remove the 2 screws (2) retaining the hood latch release handle (1).
  7. Remove the cable (3) through the passenger compartment opening.
  8. Disconnect the cable (3) from the release handle (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 283541 Size: MH
  1. Connect the release cable (3) to the handle (1).
  2. Install the cable (3) into the engine compartment.
  3. Install the hood latch release handle (1).
  4. Install the screws (2) in order to retain the release handle (1).
  5. Connect the route cable (3) along the body rail to the front of the vehicle.
  6. Connect the cable (3) to the clips.
  7. Install the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .

    8. Object Number: 283540 Size: SH
  8. Connect the release cable (2) to the hood latch assembly (1).
  9. Close the hood.
