  1. Before soldering the bus bar, buff the repair area using fine steel wool. This action removes the oxide coating formed during the glass manufacture.
  2. Use a brush in order to apply a paste-type rosin flux in small quantities to the following locations:
  3. • The wire lead
    • The bus bar repair area

    Notice: Use only enough heat to melt the solder. Using excessive heat can damage the rear window defogger components or the rear window.

  4. Coat the soldering iron tip with solder.
  5. Use a solder containing 3 percent silver and a rosin flux paste.

    Use only enough solder in order to ensure a complete repair.

    Important: DO NOT overheat the wire when resoldering the wire to the bus bar.

  6. Resolder the bus bar lead wire or terminal.
