- Connect the scan tool.
- Turn the ignition ON.
- Select the diagnostics F0.
- Select the model year (MY).
- Select the vehicle type.
- Select the system F1 body.
- Select the GM product line, G.
- Select the nameplate, Buick/Oldsmobile.
- Select the Remote Function Actuator F0.
- Select the special functions F2.
- Select the set options F1.
- Scroll through the screens until the screen displays the desired function. Select YES on each function that needs to be enabled for the particular vehicle remote program option (RPO).
- Use the EXIT key in order to change from one function screen to another.
- Do not use the YES or NO keys. Pressing YES or NO may disable other features.
- Exit the system.
- Disconnect the scan tool.

| 14.1. | Use the RPO chart and select the functions that are standard or optional for the particular vehicle being serviced. Failure to program the RFA module properly may cause the system to malfunction. A malfunction may cause misdiagnosis and customer complaints. |
| 14.2. | When selecting the functions on a new remote function actuator module on a vehicle that has Theft Deterrent UA6, select Option 3 on the scan tool. SPEED UP will appear as your only selection. |

If the function is not reset, the 30-second theft lamp illumination will reduce to 2 seconds. The theft deterrent system may misdiagnose if the function is not set properly.
