Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Deflector Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  3. Remove the IP lower trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 492573  Size: SH
  5. Remove the IP center air outlet fastener (1).
  6. Remove the IP center air outlet (2).
  7. Pull the IP center air outlet rearward in order to remove the outlet from the IP.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 492573  Size: SH
  1. Align the instrument panel (IP) center air outlet (2) to the IP.
  2. Push inward.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the air outlet fastener (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the IP lower trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  7. Install the IP cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
