Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the knee bolster reinforcement from the IP. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 492630  Size: SH
  4. Remove the fasteners (1) retaining the knee bolster deflectors (2) to the steering column bracket.

  5. Object Number: 492579  Size: SH
  6. Remove the deflectors (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 492579  Size: SH
  1. Align the knee bolster deflectors (2) to the steering column bracket.

  2. Object Number: 492630  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the knee bolster deflector fasteners (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the knee bolster reinforcement to the IP. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  6. Install the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 492576  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fasteners (1) retaining the knee bolster deflector (2) to the steering column bracket.
  4. Remove the deflector (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the knee bolster deflector (2) to the steering column bracket.
