Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement Buick
Removal Procedure
- Remove the shifter handle (2)
after the retainer (1) is removed.
Pull upward in order to remove the handle.
- Remove the upper console trim plate. Refer to
Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Remove the fasteners (1)
that retain the shifter trim plate to the console.
- Remove the shifter trim
plate (2).
Pull up in order to disengage the retaining tabs.
- Disconnect the connectors from the shifter trim plate (2).
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical
connectors to the shifter trim plate (2).
- Install the shifter trim plate (2) to the console assembly.
Push down in order to seat the retaining tabs.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install
the fasteners (1) in order to retain the trim plate to the console.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the upper console trim plate. Refer to
Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Install the shifter handle
by performing the following steps:
5.1. | Push down on the shaft in order to install the shifter handle (2). |
5.2. | Install the retainer (1). |

Removal Procedure
- Remove the air deflector/radio trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the shifter handle retaining clip.
- Partially remove the shifter
handle in order to allow access to the electrical connector (1):
3.1. | Disconnect the electrical connector (1). |
3.2. | Removal the handle (3). |
- Remove the fasteners (1)
that retain the shifter trim plate (2) to the console.
- Remove the console compartment bin. Refer to
Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement
.
- Pull up on the shifter trim plate (2) in order to disengage
the tabs (5) from the retainers (4).
- Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from the shifter
trim plate wire harness.
- Remove the shifter trim plate (2) from the console assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Partially install the
shifter trim plate (2).
- Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the
shifter trim plate wire harness.
- Install the shifter trim plate (2) to the console assembly.
Push down in order to seat the tabs (5) into the retainers (4).
- Install the console compartment bin. Refer to

.
