Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Observe the CHECK OIL LEVEL lamp.

Does the lamp light momentarily?

--

Go to Engine Oil Level Sensor and/or Switch Diagnosis

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a Scan Tool .
  2. Observe for powertrain control module (PCM) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Are any DTCs present?

--

Go to the applicable DTC diagnostic chart in Engine Controls

Go to Step 4

Using the Scan Tool , turn on the CHECK OIL LEVEL light.

Does the lamp light?

--

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect PCM connector C2.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between connector C2 terminal 6 and ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Is the CHECK OIL LEVEL lamp lit?

  1. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), measure the amperage draw between CKT 1173 (BRN/WHT) to ground.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the amperage measure greater than the specified value?

500 mA

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 9

Inspect CKT 1173 for an open.

Is the circuit OK?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 11

Inspect CKT 1173 (BRN/WHT) for a short to voltage.

Is the circuit OK?

Replace the PCM.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect connector C2 cavity A8 for proper terminal contact.

Is the connection OK?

Go to Step 12

Repair CKT 1173.

Is the repair complete?
