Did you perform the Interior Lamps System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  2. Enter the body control module (MALL) diagnostic mode by performing the following steps:
  3. 2.1. Press and hold the power unlock switch.
    2.2. Cycle the headlamps 6 times.
    2.3. Release the power unlock switch.
  4. The MALL module may sound a few tones upon entering the diagnostic mode. The tones are the history codes stored in the MALL module. Refer to Body Control Module Diagnostic Information in Body Control System.
  5. Use the keyless entry transmitter in order to unlock the car.

Does the MALL module sound 2 tones when the car is unlocked using the keyless entry transmitter?

Turn the interior lamp switch on.

Does the MALL module sound 1 tone when the interior lamp switch is activated?

  1. Turn the interior lamp switch off.
  2. Open the left front door.
  3. Close the left front door.

Does the MALL module sound 1 tone when the left front door is opened and 1 tone when the left front door is closed?

  1. Open the right front door.
  2. Close the right front door.

Does the MALL module sound 1 tone when the right front door is opened and 1 tone when the right front door is closed?

  1. Open the left rear door.
  2. Close the left rear door.

Does the MALL module sound 1 tone when the left rear door is opened and 1 tone when the left rear door is closed?

Test CKT 156 (WHT) for a short to ground between S356 and the MALL module. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 156 OK?

Disconnect the remote function actuator (RFA) module connector.

Do all of the courtesy lamps turn off?

Replace the RFA module. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.

Test CKT 394 (LT GRN/BLK) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 394 OK?

Disconnect the interior lamp switch connector.

Do all of the courtesy lamps turn off?

Replace the interior lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Test CKT 1393 (DK BLU) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Test CKT 155 (BLK) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 155 OK?

Test CKT 49 (DK BLU) (Oldsmobile) or CKT 528 (YEL) (Buick) for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Test CKT 1732 (ORN) for a short to battery voltage between S336 and the MALL module. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.
