Control Assembly Replacement Buick
Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) cluster trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the retaining screws
from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control assembly.
- Pull the assembly out from the IP.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector and remove the HVAC control assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical
connector to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control
assembly.
- Install the HVAC control
assembly into the instrument panel (IP).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the retaining
screws in order to secure the HVAC control assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).
- Install the IP cluster trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement
in Instrument
Panel, Gauges and Console.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) cluster trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the retaining screws
from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control assembly.
- Pull the assembly out from the IP.

- Install the heating, ventilation,
and air conditioning (HVAC) control assembly into the instrument panel (IP)
using the guide pins.
