Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 38042 Dual O-ring Joint Separator
    • J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 264826  Size: SH
  3. Use the J 38042 in order to remove the condenser outlet dual O-ring joint.

  4. Object Number: 264826  Size: SH
  5. Remove the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator.

  6. Object Number: 381431  Size: SH
  7. Remove the A/C line clip.
  8. Remove the A/C evaporator tube.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required

J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

  1. Position the A/C evaporator tube.

  2. Object Number: 381431  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the A/C line clip and the nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 12 N·m (9 lb in).

  5. Install the condenser outlet dual O-ring joint.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the dual O-ring joint connections to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the evaporator inlet tube and the nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  10. Using the J 39400 , leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing .
