Installation Procedure

Tools Required

J 39400 Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

    Object Number: 264820 Size: SH
  1. Install the compressor hose.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Connect the fasten attaching the A/C compressor hose to the A/C compressor.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Connect the A/C line connector to the condenser inlet.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the condenser inlet to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the A/C line connection to the accumulator outlet.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the accumulator outlet connection to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Using the J 39400 leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing .
