  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the variable steering module connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, leaving the engine OFF.
  4. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module connector terminal H and a good ground.

Does the voltage measure at the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 5

  1. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module connector terminal H and terminal D.
  2. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module connector terminal H and terminal B.

Does the voltage measure at the specified value for both measurements?

B+

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module connector terminal G and terminal F.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

1.6-3.1 ohms

  1. Disconnect the variable steering actuator connector.
  2. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module connector terminal F and the variable steering actuator connector terminal A.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

0.5 ohms

Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module connector terminal G and the variable steering actuator connector terminal B.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

0.5 ohms

Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module terminal F and ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between the variable steering module connector terminal F and ground.

Is the voltage greater than the specified value?

1 V

Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the variable steering module terminal G and ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

Go to Step 22

Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between the variable steering module connector terminal G and ground.

Is the voltage greater than the specified value?

1 V

Go to Step 23

  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Place the gear selector in NEUTRAL.
  3. Set the J 39200 DMM to the DC scale.
  4. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between the variable steering module connector terminal A and terminal D.
  5. By hand, turn a drive wheel.

Does the voltage vary within the specified range?

0 - 5 V
