  1. Ensure that the ignition switch is in RUN.
  2. Ensure that the gear selector lever is in PARK.
  3. Ensure that the park/neutral position switch C1 is disconnected.
  4. Connect the test lamp between connector C1 terminal B (PNK) and ground. Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect the fused jumper between park/neutral position switch connector terminal B (PNK) and terminal C (LT GRN). Refer to Using Fused Jumper Wires in Wiring Systems.

Does the shift interlock actuator hold the gear selector lever in PARK (with the brake lever not pressed)?

  1. Test the TMNSS fuse in the IP fuse block.
  2. Repair as necessary.

  1. Ensure that the park/neutral position switch is connected.
  2. Ensure that stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C1 is disconnected.
  3. Connect the test lamp between stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C1 terminal A (LT GRN) and ground. Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Test the park/neutral position switch connector for proper terminal contact.
  2. Repair the connector as necessary. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the park/neutral position switch. Refer to PNP Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T80-E or to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.

Connect the test lamp between stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C1 terminal A (LT GRN) and terminal B (DK GRN/WHT). Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 275 (LT GRN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Ensure that stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C1 is connected.
  2. Ensure that the shift interlock actuator is disconnected.
  3. Connect the test lamp between shift interlock actuator connector terminal A (DK GRN/WHT) and ground. Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Test the stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C1 for proper terminal contact.
  2. Repair the connector as necessary. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the stoplamp/BTSI switch. Refer to Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4T65-E or to Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4T80-E.

Connect the test lamp between shift interlock actuator connector terminal A (DK GRN/WHT) and terminal B (BLK). Refer to Troubleshooting with a Test Lamp in Wiring Systems.
