Circuit Description

The PCM monitors various parameters. The PCM will not allow operation of the Traction Control System if any parameter falls below a predetermined value.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected by the PCM, the PCM causes the TCS to shutdown until the malfunction is corrected.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

This DTC is a temporary operational malfunction.

The following actions are taken when the DTC sets:

    • A malfunction DTC is stored.
    • The TCS is disabled.
    • The TRACTION OFF indicator is turned ON.

The ABS remains functional.

If the TCS is no longer inhibited, the indicator lamp will be turned OFF but the DTC will still be stored.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

Traction Control will remain disabled until the EBTCM receives a traction allowed message from the PCM. When the EBTCM receives this message, it re-enables the TCS and turns OFF the TRACTION OFF indicator.

Diagnostic Aids

Check for PCM DTCs. If no PCM DTC is stored, DTC C1275 may have set due to a hot engine or a hot transaxle (both normal conditions). No repairs should be made to the Traction Control System.

Perform a thorough inspection of the wiring and the connectors.

Failure to carefully inspect wiring may result in a misdiagnosis. A misdiagnosis may result in replacing parts without repairing the malfunction.
