Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 183601 Size: SH
  1. Remove the IAT sensor connector from the air cleaner.

  2. Object Number: 12319 Size: SH
  3. Loosen the intake air duct clamp at the Mass Air Flow Sensor end of the duct.
  4. Disconnect the intake air duct from the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

  5. Object Number: 12320 Size: SH
  6. Disengage both air cleaner cover latches. One latch is located at the rear corner of the inboard edge of the cover. The other is located at the outboard corner of the rear edge of the cover.
  7. Remove the bolt through the air cleaner assembly to side rail.
  8. Pivot the air cleaner and intake air duct assembly toward the front of the vehicle.
  9. Remove the assembly.
  10. Inspect air filter element.
  11. Remove any loose debris that may be found laying in the base of the air cleaner.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 12320 Size: SH
  1. Install a new air filter element.
  2. Engage the front edge of the air cleaner lid into the slots in the front edge of the air cleaner base.
  3. Install the bolt through the air cleaner assembly to side rail.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the MAF sensor inlet duct must be lined up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect air flow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveabilty concern.

  5. Pivot air cleaner cover and duct assembly down until the two latches in the cover engage in the air cleaner base.
  6. Inspect to be sure that both latches latch.

  7. Object Number: 12319 Size: SH
  8. Install the intake air duct over the Mass Air Flow Sensor, being careful to ensure that the intake air duct is secure around the entire outer edge of the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the clamp assembly to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
