Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement Column Shift
Removal Procedure
- Remove the cable from the transmission.
- Remove the left sound insulator and the knee bolster. Refer to
Left Sound Insulator and Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
- Remove the cable retaining clip and the
cable at the steering column.
- Remove the cable assembly through the hole in the cowl.
Installation Procedure
- Properly route the cable. Position the cable.
- Install the cable and the retaining clip
at the steering column.
- Install the left sound insulator and the knee bolster. Refer to
Left Sound Insulator and Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
- Install the cable at the transaxle.
- Adjust the cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment

Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement Floor Shift
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the cable from the transmission
manual shaft lever and the bracket on the transmission.
- Remove the shift handle.
- Remove the console trim and the console, as necessary.
- Remove the cable retaining clips and the cable at the console.
- Remove the left sound insulator.
- Pull back the carpet in order to expose
the cable.
- Remove the shift control cable assembly
through the hole in the cowl.
Installation Procedure
- Properly route the shift control cable.
Position the cable.
- Install the carpet into position.
- Install the left sound insulator.
- Install the cable at the console and the retaining clip.
- Install the console and the console trim, as removed.
- Install the shift handle.
- Install the cable to the transmission
manual shaft lever and bracket.
- Adjust the cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment
