Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement Column Shift

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cable from the transmission.
  2. Remove the left sound insulator and the knee bolster. Refer to Left Sound Insulator and Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

  3. Object Number: 97242  Size: SH
  4. Remove the cable retaining clip and the cable at the steering column.
  5. Remove the cable assembly through the hole in the cowl.

Installation Procedure

  1. Properly route the cable. Position the cable.

  2. Object Number: 97242  Size: SH
  3. Install the cable and the retaining clip at the steering column.
  4. Install the left sound insulator and the knee bolster. Refer to Left Sound Insulator and Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  5. Install the cable at the transaxle.
  6. Adjust the cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment .

Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement Floor Shift

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 98413  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the cable from the transmission manual shaft lever and the bracket on the transmission.
  2. Remove the shift handle.
  3. Remove the console trim and the console, as necessary.
  4. Remove the cable retaining clips and the cable at the console.
  5. Remove the left sound insulator.

  6. Object Number: 98412  Size: SH
  7. Pull back the carpet in order to expose the cable.

  8. Object Number: 98414  Size: SH
  9. Remove the shift control cable assembly through the hole in the cowl.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 98412  Size: SH
  1. Properly route the shift control cable. Position the cable.
  2. Install the carpet into position.
  3. Install the left sound insulator.
  4. Install the cable at the console and the retaining clip.
  5. Install the console and the console trim, as removed.
  6. Install the shift handle.

  8. Install the cable to the transmission manual shaft lever and bracket.
  9. Adjust the cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment .
