Did you perform the outside mirrors system check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Press and release the rear defogger switch.
  3. Inspect to see if the defogger ON indicator turns on.

Does the defogger ON indicator turn on?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Press and release the rear defogger switch.
  4. Inspect to see if the following defoggers turn on:
  5. • The rear window defogger
    • The right side outside rearview mirror defogger
    • The left side outside rearview mirror defogger

Do any defoggers turn on?

Does the rearview window defogger turn on?

Do either the left side or the right side outside rearview mirrors defoggers turn on?

  1. If the rear defogger ON indicator turns off before the test is made, press and release the rear defogger switch again.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe the inoperative outside rearview mirror harness connector between terminal D (circuit 267) and terminal E (circuit 750).

Does the test light illuminate?

Replace the inoperative outside rearview mirror. Refer to Outside Rearview Mirror Glass Replacement

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

  1. If the rear defogger ON indicator turns off before the test is made, press and release the rear defogger switch again.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between the inoperative outside rearview mirror harness connector terminal D (circuit 267) and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 750 between the inoperative outside rearview mirror harness connector terminal E and S303.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 267 between S325 and the inoperative outside rearview mirror harness connector terminal D.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

Check the HEATED MIRROR fuse in the fuse block is open.

Is the HEATED MIRROR fuse in the fuse block is open?

Repair the short to ground in circuit 267.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

  1. If the rear defogger ON indicator turns off before the test is made, press and release the rear defogger switch again.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between the fuse block terminal A5 and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 15

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 293 between the fuse block and terminal A5 and S268.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

  1. If the rear defogger ON indicator turns off before the test is made, press and release the rear defogger switch again.
  2. Disconnect the left side outside rearview connector.
  3. Using a test light, backprobe between the left side outside rearview mirror harness connector terminal D (circuit 267) and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 750 between S303 and G301.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 267 between the fuse block terminal A6 and S325.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?
