Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Remove the front bumper fascia.
  3. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  4. Remove the front bumper fascia upper support. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Support Replacement .
  5. Mark the hood latch to center support bracket with a grease pencil.

  7. Remove the bolts from the primary and secondary hood latch at the center support bracket.
  8. Important: Do not crimp the hood release cable.

  9. Remove the hood release cable from the primary and secondary hood latch.

  11. Remove the primary and secondary hood latch from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the primary and secondary hood latch to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 317827  Size: SH
  3. Install the hood release cable to the primary and secondary hood latch.

  4. Object Number: 317833  Size: SH
  5. Align the hood latch marks upon installation.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the bolts to the primary and secondary hood latch at the center support bracket.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the hood latch bolts to 10 N·m(89 lb in).

  9. Install the front bumper fascia upper support. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Support Replacement .
  10. Install the front bumper fascia.
  11. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  12. Adjust the hood. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  13. Close the hood.
