J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 247310  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the evaporator hose bolt from the condenser.
  3. Remove the evaporator hose from the condenser.

  4. Object Number: 247113  Size: SH
  5. Remove the evaporator hose nut from the evaporator.

  6. Object Number: 247119  Size: SH
  7. Remove the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube from the evaporator.

  8. Object Number: 583858  Size: SH
  9. Remove the clip (1) retaining the evaporator hose to the frame rail.

  10. Object Number: 378355  Size: SH
  11. Remove the evaporator hose from the vehicle.
  12. Remove and discard the O-rings from the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 583979  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-rings to the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Position the evaporator hose in the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 247119  Size: SH
  4. Install the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube to the evaporator.

  5. Object Number: 247113  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the evaporator hose nut to the evaporator.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Important: If the clip was damaged during removal, install a new clip.

  8. Install the evaporator hose into the clip (1) at the frame rail and fasten the clip.
  9. Install the evaporator hose to the condenser.

  10. Object Number: 247310  Size: SH
  11. Install the evaporator hose bolt to the condenser.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the A/C component using the J 39400-A .
