- Install the HVAC module to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the HVAC module nuts to the I/P (1-5). Refer to the illustration
for the HVAC module fastener torque sequence.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the
blower control module (1).
- Connect the I/P to HVAC module electrical connector.
- Install the defroster duct.
- Install the defroster duct screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (23 lb in).
- Install the defroster duct to front of dash mounting nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (65 lb in).
- Install the I/P assembly. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Connect the heater hoses to the heater core
using the J 38185
.
- Install the new O-rings to the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube.

- Install the evaporator hose and the accumulator
tube to the evaporator.
- Install the evaporator hose nut to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Evacuate and recharge the air conditioning (A/C) system. Refer
to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the A/C component using the J 39400-A
.
- Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
