J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 583979  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover.

  3. Object Number: 583971  Size: SH
  4. Remove the accumulator cover.
  5. Remove the compressor hose nut from the accumulator.

  6. Object Number: 583989  Size: SH
  7. Remove the compressor hose from the accumulator.
  8. Remove and discard the sealing washer from the compressor hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  9. Loosen the accumulator tube nut.
  10. Remove the accumulator tube from the accumulator.
  11. Remove and discard the O-rings from the accumulator tube.

  13. Remove the accumulator bracket bolt.

  14. Object Number: 583992  Size: SH
  15. Remove the accumulator from the accumulator bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Add the proper amount of refrigerant oil to the accumulator. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .

  2. Object Number: 583992  Size: SH
  3. Install the accumulator to the bracket.

  4. Object Number: 378335  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the accumulator bracket bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Install new sealing washer to the compressor hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  8. Install the compressor hose to the accumulator.

  9. Object Number: 583989  Size: SH
  10. Install the compressor hose nut to accumulator.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Install the new O-rings to the accumulator tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  13. Install the accumulator tube to the accumulator.
  14. Install the accumulator tube nut.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  16. Position the accumulator cover on the accumulator and press to engage.

  17. Object Number: 583979  Size: SH
  18. Position the evaporator hose on the accumulator cover and press to engage.
  19. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  20. Leak test the fittings of the A/C component using the J 39400-A .
