Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak
Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover.
- Loosen the line fitting at the expansion tube location.
- Separate the evaporator hose at the expansion tube location.
- Remove the expansion tube from the evaporator
hose.
- Remove and discard the O-rings from the evaporator hose.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new O-ring to the evaporator
hose. Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
.
Important: Ensure that the short screen and arrow face the evaporator.
- Install the new expansion tube.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the evaporator hose.
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Position the evaporator hose to the accumulator
cover and press to engage.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the A/C component using the J 39400-A
.
