Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the front seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 578950 Size: MH
  3. Remove the seat map pocket panel (3) by pushing up and pulling out.
  4. Remove the seat side air bag. Refer to Driver and Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement in SIR.
  5. Remove the seatback cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .

    6. Important: Do not damage the wire or the connector when removing the electrical harness.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  7. Remove the 2 bolts (16) from the left side of the seatback frame (18).
  8. Remove the shoulder belt retractor assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front in Seat Belts.
  9. Remove the right side frame bolt (17).
  10. Remove the seatback frame (18).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 578950 Size: MH
  1. Install the seatback frame (18).

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Apply Loctite™ 242 GM P/N 12345382 (Canada P/N 10953489) to the seatback frame bolts. Install the 2 bolts (16) on the left side and one on the right side (17) of the seatback frame (18).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the seatback frame bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Connect the electrical connectors.
  4. Install the shoulder belt retractor assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front in Seat Belts.
  5. Install the seatback cove and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  6. Install the seat side air bag. Refer to Driver and Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement in SIR.
  7. Install the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .
  8. Install the seat map pocket panel panel.
  9. Install the front seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement .
