  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Adjust the head up display (HUD) dimmer switch to full intensity.
  3. Turn on the high beam headlamps.

Does the HUD display illuminate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Do the different indicators in the HUD display flash in and out?

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the speedometer and the km/h indicator illuminate in the HUD display?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the HUD module.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the strobe signal circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the HUD module.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the data signal circuit and battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the clock signal circuit and battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Connect a test lamp between the clock signal circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the HUD module.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the HUD switch signal circuit to a good ground.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.

Test the ignition positive voltage circuit of the HUD switch for an open, a short to ground or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
